What is gua sha?

Gua sha is a face scraping technique from China, that is based on ancient wisdom which originates from a holistic perspective. Gua sha is a method that promotes lymphatic drainage, which helps to eliminate bloating caused by interstitial fluid (fluid trapped under your skin that needs to be released to your lymph system). Because fluid is a sign of inflammation, gua sha has a anti- inflammatory effect on the body. The benefits from gua sha massage are plenty and that’s also the reason why it has become so popular every where.

Gua sha massage stimulates the circulation and boost the blood flow. It can also help ease the appearance of cellulite by lowering fluid retention.

Gua sha decreases inflammation. Science has found that gua sha can help temporarily relieve pain and tightness in certain parts of the body, even leading to results that lasts. Read study.

Gua sha diminishes dark circles. By helping soften fine lines and stimulating collagen, gua sha can help diminish dark circles and tighten skin.

Gua sha sculpts facial muscles. Used on the jawline and cheekbone area, gua sha can help release tight facial muscles and give the temporary appearance of a more sculpted face.

Gua sha creates healthy and glowy skin. Because of the cirkulation, your skin cells are activated and are receiving more energy. That accelerates a beautifully glowing skin and a natural breath- taking radiance. Say hello to a more younger look.

Gua sha stimulates lymphatic drainage and helps the body get rid of excessive fluid.

The Power of copper

People have used copper for at least 10.000 years. Copper is one of the metals that occurs in pure form in nature. Copper has for a long time been associated with the divine and represents a holy symbole of the sun in Babylon. It is also a part of the goddess Inanna og later Ishtar. Bacteria do not thrive on copper and therefore it is a perfect material for gua sha massage. Copper decreases bacteria on the surface by 99% and therefore copper was used on handles on hospitals. Copper is an excellent conductor of electricity and heat. Ritual wands and jewelry are therefore often made of copper or have copper on them to direct and control energy. Copper is also used for healing, as it is said to balance the polarity of the body. There is a tradition of using copper against arthritis, cramps and pain. Copper is said to promote luck, attract love and protect against disease. In addition, it has been used to attract money, and copper coins can be used for prosperity magic, for example.

Copper plays a key role in many Ayurvedic rituals for wellbeing thanks to its natural healing benefits, antibacterial and rustproof qualities and also has corrosion-resistant properties. Copper has thermal conductivity, meaning that while our Ritual Gua Sha will start off cool, it will quickly heat, helping the skin to absorb any oils or serums used during a Gua Sha massage. Because of copper’s alkaline properties, placing it against your skin it will help to naturally balance your skin’s pH. Copper acts as an antioxidant and helps stimulate collagen production (collagen is a protein that determines the elasticity of your skin). It can help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, scars and breakouts, and generally firm and smooth the skin for a youthful complexion, especially if used in combination with an antioxidant-rich product such as our Goddess Skin Serum.

Our unique and innovative gua sha harnesses the properties of copper, which is known for its anti- inflammatory, antimicrobial, and collagen-boosting qualities. Experience the ultimate transformation as your skin glows with newfound radiance.

HOW TO CLEAN

Gather the necessary supplies: You'll need white vinegar, table salt, a soft cloth or sponge, a bowl or container, water for rinsing, and proper storage materials (such as a soft cloth, acid- free tissue paper, or a fabric pouch).

Create the cleaning solution: In a bowl or container, mix equal parts white vinegar and table salt. Stir the mixture until the salt is dissolved.

Apply the solution: Dip a soft cloth or sponge into the vinegar and salt solution, ensuring it is saturated but not dripping. Gently apply the solution to the copper surface, focusing on areas with tarnish or discoloration.

Let it sit: Allow the vinegar and salt solution to sit on the surface for a few minutes. This gives the mixture time to work on the tarnish and loosen it.

Scrub gently: Using the cloth or sponge, gently scrub the copper surface in circular motions.

Apply light pressure to remove the tarnish. Be cautious not to scrub too vigorously, as this could potentially scratch the metal.
Rinse with water: Once you're satisfied with the cleaning, rinse the copper item thoroughly with water. This helps remove any residue from the vinegar and salt solution.
Dry the item: Use a soft, dry cloth to thoroughly dry the item. Make sure there is no moisture left on the surface, as it can lead to tarnishing.

Instructions

Detox Massage:
For a healthy and clear skin full of natural radiance.

1.When you start your nourishing gua sha massage, we recommend that you start out activating the lymphatic system. You can easily do this by massaging with your gua sha along your collarbone on the underside for approx. 1 minute on each side. Activating the lymphatic system is important to activate your body's natural detoxification process. When you do a gua sha massage, you give your connective tissue an in-depth treatment that releases any waste products. Therefore, it is important that your lymphatic system is activated so that it can help the secretion.

2-5. Forehead:
Use the top of the gua sha and massage gently from the point between the eyebrows up to the hairline. Do this approx. 10 times. Then massage along the hairline 5-10 times. You can use the top or the bottom on the gua sha, what ever feels most comfortable for you.
You do the same in the two underlying rows in the forehead - as shown in the picture.

6. Lymphatic drainage:
Again, you use the top side of the gua sha and massage from the ear down to the jaw and further down the neck to the start of the collarbone.
Do this 5-10 times.

7-9. Nose:
Now use the upper corner of the “wing” on the gua sha. Massage in straight strokes from the point between the eyebrows down to the tip of your nose. Do this 5-15 times. Then you roll on the side of the nose in two rows, a total of 10-20 times.

10-11. Eye:
We recommend that you use the buttom of the gua sha for the eyes. Massage with your gua sha in the direction shown in the picture, below and above the eye. Do 5-10 repetitions.

12. Lymphatic drainage:
Again, you use the top side of the gua sha and massage from the ear down to the jaw and further down the neck to the start of the collarbone.
Do this 5-10 times.

13-15. Cheek & jaw:
Again you use the buttom of the gua sha to massage your jaw and cheeks. Massage from the nasal wall closest to the eye and all the way up above the cheekbone. You do this 5-15 times. Continue as shown in the picture until you have massaged the whole cheek. Then continue down past the mouth and down at the chin. Always massage towards the ear. If you want, you can advantageously make another drainage from the ear down to the jaw.

16-18. Mouth & Chin:
Keep on using the buttom of the gua sha to the upper lip, and continue out onto the cheek and up to the ear. Do 5-15 repetitions.
Then you massage on the chin under the middle of the mouth. Now massage along the jaw and up to the ear. Now it is important that you finish one side of the face with a lymphatic drainage, as told above.
Then continue on the other side of your face. Feel the pleasant feeling of having given yourself a nourishing and revitalizing facial massage.

Glow Massage:
For more glow and natural radiance.

Do this 10-20 times.

13-15. Cheek & jaw:
Again you use the buttom of the gua sha to massage your jaw and cheeks. Massage from the corner of the mouth up to the eye in upward motions and continue in the lines as shown in the illustration. You do this 20-30 times. Then you perform the same massage, with the same repetitions, but now you start from the bottom of the jaw line and massage in one long stroke up to the eye. Continue as shown in the picture until you have massaged the whole cheek area.

If you want to, you can now give yourself an even more intensive massage, by making 10-20 strokes from the corner of your mouth, underneath your cheekbone, all the way up to your temple.

16-18. Mouth & Chin:
Keep on using the buttom of the gua sha to the upper lip, and continue out onto the cheek and up to the ear. Do 30-40 repetitions. Then you massage on the chin under the middle of the mouth. Now massage along the jaw and up to the ear. Now it is important that you finish one side of the face with a lymphatic drainage, as told above.

Then continue on the other side of your face. Feel the uplifted feeling of have given yourself a nourishing and revitalizing facial massage.
